Amalgam 1:8 scale Maserati 250F #1 Fangio

This is a fabulous 1:8 scale model by the high end model makers Amalgam, of the Maserati 250F, as driven by Juan Manuel Fangio to vistory at the Nurburgring in the 1957 German Grand Prix. The 22 lap race, considered to be one of Fangio’s greatest victories, beat Mike Hawthorn and Peter Collins in the Ferrari’s and Stirling Moss in his Vanwall.

With only 50 ever made, this is an exact copy in every detail of that car. Believed to be the only model made with the correct engine cover without the bubble (all other Amalgam 250F models were based on a later version of the car with the bubble in the engine cover. It was built in the UK before Amalgam moved its model making to China. The model sits on a its original stylish wooden plinth with a black base with plaques detailing the model and the limited edition number 25/50 and is covered by a perspex case. It also comes with the Certificate of Authenticity from Amalgam. This one owner from new model measures approx. 60 cms in length, is a very rare and not to be missed.

The Mercedes W196 ‘Type Monza’ Streamliner was raced in the 1955 Grand Prix season. It was designed with its closed wheels to win on the faster circuits. This is the N0. 18 car which was raced by Juan Fango at Reims, Silverston and Monza in the 1954 and 1955 seasons.

The model comes mounted on a black base with a plaque detailing the model. It has great attention to detail and paint finish for this price and scale. The model measures around 40cms in length plus the base, it comes with a black presentation box and is brand new.

This is a delightful limited edition (200 worldwide) model of the Ferrari 290MM, 1956 Mille Miglia, driven by the legendary Juan Fanigo with the race number 600, being 6am start time, finishing 4th in a time of 12h 26m. Setting a fast pace in the first half of the race in the faster cars with Collins an Musso saving their cars for the return leg to Rome. Scuderia Ferrari finished 1,2,3,4.

The model is a ‘kerbside’model and sits on a brown leatherette plinth with a plaque detailing the model, supplied with the optional perspex cover and presentation box.

This is a limited edition of only 1500 models of the Lancia/Ferrari D50 as raced by Peter Collins in the French Grand Prix 1956. The race was won by Collins in a very close finish, after battling with the highly successful Maserati 250F’s of Fangio and Moss and the underdog Vanwall.

This is a fabulous 1:8 large scale model of the Iconic Ferrari D50 which raced in the 1955/56 Grand Prix seasons and was driven by Jaun Fangio, Peter Collins, Luigi Musso and Eugenio Castellotti.

#20 was the D50 driven by Jaun Fangio at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1956. Taking pole position and 4th place in the race.

A hand built model by the well known model maker Javan Smith. It is a  ‘Kirbside’ model with cockpit, suspension, brakes and exhaust detail.
The model will be supplied with a brand new perspex base with details of the model and a perspex cover.

This is the Long Nosed version of the Lancia/Ferrari D50 as raced by Juan Fangio in the German Grand Prix at the Nurbergring in August 1956. This was the only race the Long Nose ever raced, as the following race the front of the car was returned to the standard version. Fangio went on to win the race completing 22 laps in 3 hours and 38 minutes, beating Stirling Moss in the Maserati 250F.

This is a fine 1:8 large scale model by Javan Smith, of the Maserati 250F as driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the Italian Grand Prix

The 1957 Italian Grand Prix was held at Monza, without the banked track and was won by Stirling Moss in the Vanwall after exchanging the lead with Fangio in the Maserati.

Totally hand built by the highly regarded model maker, Javan Smith in 1999. Measuring around 2 feet in length, this pre-owned (one owner) model is very rare especially the #2 Fangio car and is in excellent condition, the model will come with a brand new made to measure perspex cover.

This is a fine 1:8 large scale model by Javan Smith, of the Maserati 250F as driven by Juan Manuel Fangio to vistory at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1957.
Hand built by Javan Smith in 2004, the model has just come back from Javan Smith, having been remounted on a brand new perspex base, with details of the car and finished off with a perspex display cover with the Maserati logo in the middle on the back and Javan Smith in the corner . Measuring around 2 feet in length, this pre-owned(one owner) model is very rare especially the #32 Fangio car and is in excellent condition and not to be missed.

Javan Smith 1:8 scale Maserati 250F

Javan Smith 1:8 scale Maserati 250F, 1957 #1 Juan Fangio

This fine model is a handbuilt 1:8 large scale replica of the  fabulous Maserati 250F, that won the Grand Prix World Championship in 1957, driven by Juan Fangio. Famously overtaking Mike Hawthorn on the last lap to win the German Gran Prix at the Nurbergring in August 1957, Fangio won another four Grand Prix that year.
This model was made by the well known and respected maker – Javan Smith, completely hand made from scratch in the uk. It is a pre owned model which has been very well looked after and is in excellent condition.

The model sits and its original base, with grey tarmac effect base and metal edging, with plaque showing the makers name and details of the car. It has the original perspex cover with etched Maserati logo to the rear.
This is a truly stunning model almost 2 foot in length including the case and one of the best Javan Smith 250F models I have seen. The model is pre-owned having had one owner since being ordered from new around 2008. A wonderful addition to any model collection or as a stand alone centre piece.

Glen English Alfa Romeo ‘Alfetta’ 158, 1:8 scale

1:8 scale Alfa 158 handbuilt by Glen English

This is a fine and superbly hand crafted 1:8 large scale model of the Alfa Romeo 158 ‘Alfetta’ Grand Prix car. This particular Alfa Romeo 158, #34, is the car that won the Monaco Grand Prix in 1950 driven by Juan-Manuel Fangio.

The Alfa Romeo 158/159, also known as the Alfetta (Little Alfa in Italian)it is one of the most successful racing cars ever produced. The 158 and its derivative, the 159, took an incredible 47 wins from 54 Grands Prix entered. It was originally developed for the pre-World War II  formula (1937) and has a 1.5 litre straight-8 supercharged engine. Following World War II, the car was eligible for the new Formula One introduced in 1947. In the hands of drivers such as Nino Farina, Juan-Manuel Fangio and Luigi Fagioli, it dominated the first two seasons of the World Championship of Drivers.

The model is currently being built and should be ready in November 2021. The exact model available has been featured in the Telegraph newspaper on Saturday 30/10/21 in a full page article about Glen English and his fabulous models (see last three photos).

Entirely hand built by Glen Engish in England. With limited edition of only 50 worldwide, this is an extremely rare model. There is only one available this year.
This is a truly stunning model measuring over 2 feet in length including the case. A wonderful and very rare addition to any model/automobilia collection or as a stand alone centre piece.

It features a high quality 1:18 scale model from CMC of The Maserati 250F#1 driven to victory by Fangio in the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring in 1957.
It is complimented by a framed ‘Epic Victory’ limited edition print (1/75), Fangio being chased by the Lancia/Ferrari’s of Hawthorn #8 and Collins #7. of that exact car in the race by John Ketchell. The package also includes a black based acrylic display case.

All items are new and model comes with all original packaging and box.

Amalgam 1:8 scale Mercedes W196

This is a fabulous 1:8 large scale model by the high end model makers Amalgam of the Mercedes W196 Monoposto as raced by Juan Manuel Fangio at the British Grand Prix in 1955 run for the first time at Aintree.

This is a very rare version of the W196 with Fangio’s #10 livery. Fangio finished second to Moss in the race by less than a second. It is said that Fangio let Moss win as it was his home grand prix but Fangio never admitted it.
The W196 was totally dominant in the race taking the first four places.

The model is an exact 1:8 scale replica of the car and as you would expect from Amalgam is absolutely stunning in every detail.
The engine cover lifts off to reveal in stunning detail the 8 cylinder engine and the cockpit is beautifully crafted.

The model sits on a black stand with plaques detailing the model and the limited edition number 32/196 (still with celaphane covers on) and is covered by a peliglass case. It also comes with all the original packaging and the Certificate of Authenticity from Amalgam. and is in new condition.

A 1:8 scale model of the W196 that Bohnams sold at the Festival of Speed in 2013 for £19m.

Amalgam 1:8 Mercedes W196 Streamliner

This is a fabulous 1:8 large scale model by the high end model makers Amalgam of the Mercedes W196 Streamliner that took the Grand Prix world by storm in the 1954 season. Nothing like it had appeared in Formula 1 before with its covered wheels and sleek aerodynamic design it won its very first race in the French Grand Prix at Reims with Jaun Manuel Fangio at the wheel.

The model has a removable engine cover to reveal in incredible detail the straight 8 cylinder engine. It sits on a black stand with plaques detailing the model, the limited edition number and is covered by a perspex case. It also comes with all the original packaging when new and the Certificate of Authenticity from Amalgam. The model run was limited to a maximum of 199 units. This particular model was made in 2009 and is in as new condition.

This model will be available at the forthcoming Bonhams Mercedes Sale in Stuttgart, Germany on the 28th March 2015
