Pocher 1:8 large scale model of the Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza in red with an incredibly detailed engine bay, cockpit and underside. The model sits in a brand new glass display case with a metal edged black base and a (removeable) mirror underneath the car. Built some years ago by a meticulous model maker, the model have been very well built and is in excellent condition.
The 8C 2300 was designed by Vittorio Jano, built between 1931 and 1933 by companies such as Scuderia Ferrari. Only 188 Alfa 8C 2300’s were built and only 10 were the Monza bodied version. It was powered by a water-cooled, double-overhead-cam, bi-block, 2446cc straight-eight engine. Italian Grand Prix victory at Monza gave the “Monza” name to the twin seater GP car. The Monza being the spacial racing version. The 8C 2300 won countless races in the 1930’s, including the Mille Miglia and Targa Florio and driven to numerous victories by Tazio Nuvolari. The Alfa Romeo factory often added the name of events won, to the name of a car.
